It started with a single crochet hook and a lot more patience than I had back then. My first rows were crooked, the stitch count was never right, and I ripped out at least as much as I crocheted. But at some point there was that moment when lots of individual loops suddenly became something whole – and crochet hasn't let go of me since.
What still fascinates me about it today: crochet is one of the few pastimes where you need nothing more than yarn, a hook and a little time. No power, no screen, no rush. Just a thread slowly taking shape.
A thread becomes a stitch, stitches become a row – and at some point you're holding something in your hands that didn't exist before.
PrettyCrochet grew out of the wish to pass on this feeling. Here you'll find free patterns, honest recommendations on materials and tools, and interactive tools that make planning your own projects easier. Everything presented the way I would have wished for when I started: easy to understand, free of jargon and made for crocheting along right away.
Every pattern is written so that it works even if you're just starting out – with clear stitch counts and no abbreviations that nobody explains.
I only recommend yarns, hooks and accessories that I use myself. If I don't like something, I say so – even if it sells worse.
Crochet should relax you, not stress you out. Crooked rows are part of it, and your first project doesn't have to look store-bought.
